The true purpose of public school
8th grade ain't what it used to be
Depth: Details, process, questions, proofs, big idea, impact, motivation, rules, trends, ethics, language, patterns
Complexity: POV, transformations, change over time, cross-discipline, context, judgments, originality.
Acceleration: Learning is faster when differentiated.
Novelty: Each student is different.Creative and critical thinking. Problem solving.
E.g. Studying the details can lead to an understanding of the big ideas which may be different depending on POV. Patterns and trends can lead to an understanding of expectations/rules. Change over time informs growth. Motives help pass judgements on impact. What are the impact of patterns on an idea?
