From the website: http://www.modtronix.com/product_info.php?products_id=193

Says they sell the C30 compiler for $449.

"Currently on sale for 52% discount - limited time only! Recommend
retail price is $895, and that is the minimum price all other
distributors sell this product for! This special offer is for the
genuine, up to date compiler from Microchip. Shipped in the original
sealed box (from Microchip) with a CD and printed documentation. After
installing this compiler on your computer, you will be able to download
any updates that might have become available from the Microchip's
product page."

What does it all mean?  And why has Microchip put the source code for
C30 under the GNU license?  Inquiring minds want to know.
