Assuming having a setb/clrb on a temp value which gets written to the
port takes too long, you could save a cycle by just writing predefined
states to the port.

On the SX at least, wrting values directly to the port is common way to
share multiple VPs on the same port as well, while still possibly
maintaining jitter free operation.
