Which is so typical of Sony.  I would be using a Vaio laptop now
instead of a Thinkpad if it weren't for the proprietariness.

Depending on what you want to do, you could pick up a Sony memory
stick to USB interface, and use that as a front end for your
project.  I used one yesterday to transfer images from a memory
stick to my laptop.

BTW, my memory stick is made by Lexar, so perhaps there are other
products that you might be able to use for this, so keep looking.
