Thread: Flash tubes - for Kat
face BY : Kathy Quinlan email (remove spam text)

Hi Jinx.

You got it, as a bigger tube is alot more money (so they will tell you) in
reality it is hard to find 450VDC caps with enough uF's cheap enough for
hobby use :o(

My current design is Uc controlled with a regulated voltage doubler giving
me between 300 - 500VDC to vary flash intensity. I am also signalling
failures (I am still trying to work out how to detect the unit blew its self
off the wall ;o) atm I have 6 X 450V 200uF caps and they are rated at 105oC
and the ambient outside temp during summer will be 50oC with out taking in
to account they will be sitting in the sun :o(
