Roman, thank you. You gave me the words to deal with this.
Above, you said:

However, 'infinitely many steps' is _not_ a number of steps. Rather it is
the process carried out for (if I may) an _infinite_ number of steps.

Remember: 'infinity' is not a number, its a concept.

That is the difference.
