Hi Myke

Many people like me, that have worked in analogue world and that are updated
to PICs to produce better devices, need to communicate in serial with PCs
for sending controls to a PIC and receiving data in the PC.

We need not only to know by curiosity how others do it, and to buy modules,
but would like to learn ways to do simple things ourselves in the least
expensive way. So we would like to learn with simple but useful working
examples. As example in VB, ( if possible without  requiring the expensive
prof package...) choosing a A/D channel of the 877 , sending more control
bits for an experiment,  reading the 10 bit A/D, saving the values in a file
excel compatible.  After we can learn more when necessary.
