'using EPIC programmer for 12C672'

Hi
i use a combination of ME Labs pic basic compiler and EPIC programmer. up
until now, i have been using the EPIC with 16F84s. i now have a 12c672JW
chip and i want to program it.
i made a circuit board with an adapter for the 8 pin chip. compiled my
working code for the 12c672 chip and loaded up EPIC.
now, there was not an option on the screen for my chip, so i chose the 12c5x
chip because it had an internal oscillator circuit (with that option)
anyway as you may guess from my posting, it doesn't work, and i wondered if
anyone could give me some ideas.
(my code seems to be readable from the eeprom - so i guess that the writing
process went ok.
thanks
Pete

As the 12c5xx are 12bit devices and the 12c6xx are 14 bit devices, i
think you will need quite different programming algorithms. This info
shd be at the Microchip site...ie programming specs.
good luck

NEVER PROGRAM A 12C67x as a 12C508!!
Apart from the fact that it just wont work you are in danger of programming
the permanent code protection bits (depending on the state of some of the
12C50x config bit settings )
Unfortunately there are no easy ways to program the 12C67x parts of the
programmer software doesn't offer support. This is because the 12C67x have
seven oscillator settings and therefore use three bits in the config word.
The difference in the config word is the killer.
You may be able to select a same size 16Cxx device and then "fudge" the
config bit settings with custom __Config values if your programmer
software is lazy and does check for illegal conditions.
This is mickey mouse stuff but it may get you going.
I suggest you ask your programmer OEM for support!! If He/she wont help
checkout were I'm up to in support.
