'tm4 and FreeBSD'

Hi all,
Has anyone successfully compiled the unix source code for tm4 (on Jim
Robertson's Newfound Electronics page) to run under FreeBSD?
There's some minor differences in the way *BSD handles the serial port when
compared to SysV/Linux and unfortunately this code is SysV-centric.
I've compiled tm4 on a linux machine and ran the binary on my FreeBSD
machine using the linux compat libraries, but this runs me into a different
problem with some run-time errors:
LINUX: 'ioctl' fd=3, typ=0x54(T), num=0x9 not implemented
The hardware i'm using is a Reaper with the latest firmware (thanks Jim!).
The FreeBSD 3.2 box is a Celeron 300A. The same motherboard read/writes
16c84's fine using the Windoze WinTM4 software so it's not a hardware
compatibility issue.
I'd appreciate a nudge in the appropriate direction, otherwise i'll keep
plodding along.
Thanks,
Glen.
