Lance (or whoever),
I need to program some 16C622 chips for a project and a friend of mine h
as an
old picstart 16B (not the 16B1). Can I use the 16B to program the 622? Is the
solution as
simple as downloading the 16B1 software from mchip's web site?

Thanks,

In order to program any of the 16C62x devices with PICSTART you need the
recently released upgrade kit. This kit includes new firmware for the board as
well as latest releases of all the software. The kit is $29.95.

No, the upgrade kit is FREE.  I just got mine from MicroChip, and  never even
ordered it.  They're sending one to every listed owner of a PICTART.
