I just noticed a new subdirectory on the mchip bbs. MPLAB-C. Looks like
they based it on the Byte Craft compilier. The preliminary version is
limited to 256 bytes.
I wonder if Microchip intends to release this along with the other
development tools for free, or charge for it.
If it's free, they might pick up more customers. After all, they're in the
business of selling silicon, not software.
But, if it's free, who's gonna spend money on a third party compilier that
isn't free?
So, does anybody know what the plans are as far as pricing?

Newell:
It is based on the Bytecraft compiler. Like Bytecraft, Microchip is
providing a demo version which is limited to 256 bytes of generated
code.
It will NOT be free... As far as I know, Microchip intends to sell
it for about the same price as Bytecraft's MPC compiler, which goes
for around $700-800.

I'm attempting to move over to using mplab-c instead of mplab-asm
and am looking for some basic examples to get me started.
the kind of thing I'm looking for is simple led flashing from a button press.
counting to 256 with led's.
converting AtoD and displaying on an led 8 bit binary .
Any other usefull small programms will be apreciated.
Initially I will be using 54 84 and 71 pics
thank you

Hi all,
I'm using MPLAB to work.
There are reasons to migrate to MPLAB-C? (benefits and disadvantages...)

I think that's a real *BIG* last-minute ask from Santa Claus, isn't
it?

You are barking up the wrong forest. If you can't
buy it, you can't use it. Geez. How would you feel
if someone stole YOUR code? Hmmmm - I thought so.

Hello
I am looking for a copy of MPLAB-C. Is there a cost involved
with this software or is it free like MPLAB. If it is free can someone
send me a copy or tell me where I can download a copy. The microchip
site said that the program was discontinued and it is no longer on their
site. If there is a cost I would like to know where I can buy it.
Thanks
Scott
