don't know what aspect of reliability you are looking for.

I am very impressed with Jim Robertson's Warp 3 programmer (see
http://www.new-elect.com/). It runs directly with MPLAB as if it
were a Picstart Plus - ie you never need to leave the MPLAB
environment. Just as advertised

However here's what impressed me - since I upgraded to MPLAB
4.00.14 it integrates with MPLAB even on my Win/NT laptop. I have
had several problems trying to get some other simpler
programmers to work reliably with NT on the laptop. Warp3 works
fine every time (only tested on 16F84 and 12C09 so far).

Only very minor flaw (Jim are you monitoring) is that Warp3 puts
out a message that the Picstart firmware is downlevel. No real
annoyance it only does it first time it connects and so is only seen
once per session. Given the great price performance of the Warp3 I
think I can live with that :-).

Usual disclaimer - no vested interest blah just a happy NT PIC
coder (and it looks like Jim has open sourced his TM4 protocol
driver so that hopefully I can become a happy Linux PIC coder soon

The warp-3 is now upgraded to the warp-13 but the idea is the same.

I'm sure that it is a case of one works, all works. ;-)

Yes Brian I am monitoring, I have a job with the Australian war
department spying for New Zealanders taking cheap shots at
Australians. ;-)

I do not know what message you are referring to. If it is the
"establishing connection to firmware ?????" then this is
also present for the picstart plus and is generated by MPLAB.
Anything else, well I would be interested in knowing about that.

Yes, The TM4 protocol is open and there is a basic unix/linux driver
on my web site. I am more than happy to help anyone who wishes to
promote this code further. It will drive all TM4/4LAB programmers
including the free tait to TM4 code that I gave away over the
piclist and now posted on my web page as a free download.

Thanks for your supporting comment Brian. I like honest people. ;-)
