Hi Jory and others,

What if we ask Microchip really nicely to help? After all, it is in their
interest to keep this discussion platform open. Can't the error stream be
'dev/null'ed' to a fake user at MIT?
For those worried about irrelevant messages, a newsgroup will be a nightmare.

Hi PICers,

> For those worried about irrelevant messages, a newsgroup will be a nightmare.

I would realy hate if this list turns into a news group. I like to be
able to ask a question and get an answer into my mail as soon as someone
write to me (My mail program is running all the time). I wouldn't like to
use the news and look at all the time waiting for messages.

Also, how about asking Microchip to handle the list instead of MIT and
not only the nul/dev ?

this list is great ! please don't let it stop
a newsgroup requires to be on-line and this would raise my phone-bill
I can speak only for myself but I guess I am a tipical member
no other list gave nearly as many links , connections to techniques
not condensed elsewhere
don't let it die
bye

I think most of us who actively participate on the list feel the
same way, although a news group MIGHT be better for those people
who only "lurk" on the list.

Microchip already has a web page and a BBS (accessible,
incidentally, as a set of newsgroups).  I don't think they'd
want to take on the additional responsibility of handling this
   list.

Moreover, I think the list quality would deteriorate if it were
run by Microchip... It's important to have a non-moderated
(non-moderated by Microchip, I mean) forum for discussion of
   their products.
