I want to be deleted from this discussion group.
The e-mail traffic is way to high and of little value.

Thank you,

They will keep you here until you beg. But if you send a message to
spam_OUTLISTSERVTakeThisOuTspamMITVMA.MIT.EDU and place the words 'unsubscribe piclist' in the
body you might be released eventually. Also, you may receive the digest of
the list by selecting your options. You can find out how to by sending a
message to the quoted address, with the word 'help' on a line by itself,
also in the body of the message. You may send both requests in the same
message, each on a line by itself.

hope this will release you,

The traffic is way too high partly because requests like yours are being
sent to the wrong address.  Please follow the unsubscribe instructions
which were sent to you when you subscribed.

Email me privately if it turns out that you didn't bother to keep these
instructions and I'll send you a copy of mine.

Before I subscribed to the list, I knew this could be the problem, and
for that exact reason I setup a local news group fed from the piclist -
this way I can use Netscape's news reader ( or rn or trn ), read
messages in a nice treaded way, and easily ignore any info I don't
need.  It took a bit of work to setup INN, and a simple mail to
newsgroup script, but I think this is the best way to read messages.  If
my local group was not on a secure server I would make it accessible to
the outside world :(

I wonder if anybody else has done it this way, or are people mainly
using mail filters to sort their e-mail ?

I use email filters and set up the PIClist box to view by thread.  For a
while I also filtered PIClist mail for [OT] so I could review the
off-topic threads later.  I had to give up on this, though - it's
amazing how many variations of [OT] people come up with: {OT}, [ot],
[way OT].  I gave up when half a dozen filters weren't enough.
