hello,
i read everyday's messages with mostly interest. i too have developed a
strong "delete key" finger but, for the most part, i appreciate the
responses form the members of this list. to you "top ten", don't let
anyone stop you from posting. most of the time, you guys contribute.
the other times just remember to wear asbestos!<G>
well, anyway, i need some advise from someone who has been down the same
road. i need to start working on a very simple "brush servo" motor
control. the system will use a pic (uncommited as yet) and will read a
quadrature encoder to make sure the motor has reached the location
selected. i will also want the pic to output the motor control voltage
via a pwm. i will be converting the pwm to a +/- 10 volt control signal
and the pic will have to receive position, velocity and etc. commands
via a serial link.
i need a little help and possibly the urls of some information. i have
lived a few years since i had the math but think i can recover quickly.
thanks in advance. if you do not feel the subject is "main stream"
enough for the pic list, email me privately.
thanks.

There is an application note on the Microchip website describing just
exactly what you want. It uses a PID algorythm.
