'Which Programmer To Use?'
|Can anyone suggest a good "hobby" programmer for the PIC micros?
I am looking to do some projects from the standpoint of learning the PIC.
If anyone can provide some good pros and cons of the programmers that
they have used, it would definately help me make a more educated choice
in PIC programmers.

Both the DT101 and Bojan Dobaj's P16PRO Programmers are quite nice
pieces of hardware. I own and use them both. The deiciding factor in
which one I use is whether I am in the shop or not. P16PRO is smaller
unit to lug in the laptop case. ;-)

I have used the original Parallax unit, now sold by http://www.tech-tools.com, the
Carmacon (http://www.carmacon.com) upgrade to that, and the Tech-Tools
upgrade. My favorite is the Carmacon unit, mainly because they are a local
company and have fantastic tech support. Tech-Tools has great tech support
The Carmacon unit is a few dollars cheaper than the Tech-Tools one, too.

I've used it for 16f84. If you want to do 28 or 40 pin chips, I suggest you

I use the programmer from New Found Electronics in Australia.
It can program almost all of the PICs and it has a nice price.
Check at their web side first http://www.new-elect.com/ .
I own the Warp-3 programmer and I am very happy with it.

I could not find the price so I asked elnec

They refered me to crownhill.co.uk

I'd be really suprized if you can find this at $72! More like $95 USD
