1. please use DRVTST1.EXE to verify that your programmer
hardware works ok. DRVTST1 is very simple and stupid program,
but you can use it to set or test all the the programmer pins.
>From drvtst1 prompt:
Set data pin to high level ->DATA 1<enter>
read back data pin ->DATA<enter>
should get 1 high level
Set data pin to low level ->DATA 0<enter>
read back data pin ->DATA<enter>
should get 0 low level
if the above sequence works then PIP readback should also work.
if the above fails please check the PICLIST mailings about
comments on data readback hardware issues.
if the problems still exist, let us know.

Well DOS program + driver for RS-232 programmer are at our site,
goto our WWW and follow links to get the files
PIP-02.ZIP programmer and COM84.ZIP driver for the RS-232 programmer
Source code not available to public from our site at this moment.

I had problems with it, too.
Direcly connected to the PC it worked fine, but with 1m cable it didn't.
I fixed it by placing a 100nF cap. parallel to the 2K2 resistor (between
CTS and DTR).
It works fine now!

Try to vary the 2k2 resistor between DTR and CTS.
