OK, thanks to all so far on your help on the two projects.  Let's just
concentrate on this one for now <G>.

Analog Requirements:

Audio input (probably microphone in a tube for directional sensitivity).
AGC on the audio.  I want to feed the PIC a wave with nice square edges
(comparator output?).
Audio will be from normal speaking levels to no more than 95dB.
Filtering (of some sort) to remove frequencies > 1KHz from consideration.

Speaking is at 40 dB. 95-40 = 55 dB. This is easy if you have no great
fidelity requirements. ;)

Yes, if you did not like the FM bug transmitter and the Ears Mark I idea.
I have an intercom input amplifier schematic with AGC that should suit
your purposes.
