I am using PICserial programmer 1.0 beta, the orginally hardware by D. Tait and
a pentium 75 MHz PC. The problem is that I only success programming the chip
(16c84)
at random times, ie. something is quite unstable here. Is it the software or
the hardware which couses this ??

PS ! Are there/will there be any update to PICseral programmer.

Hi Tobias,
I've written software suitable for the Davit Tait board, it reads,
writes, and disassembles 16C84's. It's available for download from the
MICROCHIP BBS in the 3rdParty area as 84PGM.ZIP, it should also be on Don's
web page at 'http://rasi.lr.ttu.ee/~sis/mirror/don/'. If you have any problems
I could always E-Mail it to you, just ask!. It's also FREE!.

The software defaults to the Don McKenzie design board, but can be used with
either of the David Tait designs by the use of a config file. Documentation
is included in the ZIP file, along with sample CFG files for the different
boards.

One point which might be causing problems, how long is your cable from the
printer port to the programmer, I've noticed that once it starts getting too
long, you start to have problems. It seems to depend on your particular
printer port, I changed my IO card, and it wouldn't work at all, with my
existing length lead.

Hope this helps,
               Nigel.
