Thanks to everyone who helped me with my PCLATH problems. As it turns out, the code changes Andy Warren sent me worked fine after all. I was (as usual) doing something stupid that I didn't see at first. As it turns out, I was burning an old .HEX file into the PIC (because I'd set up a batch file to do it with the entire filename), so it was executing the old code every time... OOPS!
