Don't worry, it gets there OK. To have the listserv send you your own
postings, tell it

SET PIC REPRO

(send this to the listserv, .....LISTSERVKILLspamspam@spam@mitvma.mit.edu, not the list).

Hi

sorry about this, just testing that I'm still on this list as I have
received any mail for a couple of days. I should have acknowledge on and
copy to sender (or whatever its called) on so if I don't get a copy or
two and I see it on the archive I guess I'll just have to re subscribe.

Looking at the archive looks like I missed a couple of interesting threads.

You are posting on the list ok.

If you are concerned because you don't see your message on the list, here is a excerpt from the message you got when you signed onto the list.

As I had the same problem.

Bill C.  .....billspamRemoveMEcornutt.com

---------
You may leave the list at any time by sending a "SIGNOFF PICLIST" command
to RemoveMELISTSERVspamspamBeGoneMITVMA.MIT.EDU (or spamBeGoneLISTSERV@spam@spamspam_OUTMITVMA.BITNET). You can also tell
LISTSERV how you want  it to confirm the receipt of  messages you send to
the list.  If you  do not trust  the system, send  a "SET  PICLIST REPRO"
command and LISTSERV will  send you a copy of your  own messages, so that
you can see that  the message was distributed and did  not get damaged on
the  way. After  a while  you  may find  that this  is getting  annoying,
especially if  your mail program  does not tell  you that the  message is
from you when it  informs you that new mail has  arrived from PICLIST. If
you send  a "SET PICLIST ACK  NOREPRO" command, LISTSERV will  mail you a
short acknowledgement instead, which will  look different in your mailbox
directory. With most mail programs you will know immediately that this is
an  acknowledgement  you  can  read  later. Finally,  you  can  turn  off
acknowledgements completely with "SET PICLIST NOACK NOREPRO".

OK, I did send SET PICLIST REPRO to .....LISTSERV@spam@spamEraseMEMITVMA.MIT.EDU, so now I
should see my own posts (like this one).

But I can't find a command like SHOW PICLIST to see what my current
settings are (were) without changing them.

But that doesn't explain why I see my own posts if they are replies
(follow-ups) to someone else's posts (for example my recent "Re: I2C
Snooper" message -- that post was distributed back to myself).

And I just know that I used to have the opposite problem: I used to get
two reflected copies of my own posts.

Hi Doug,

Yes, you are getting through. The piclist listserv doesn't,by default, send
you your own posts,so that may be why you weren't seeing yourself. If you
want to change that,so that you DO see your own posts, you can send a
command to spamBeGonelistservKILLspamspam@spam@mitvma.mit.edu (DO NOT SEND COMMANDS TO
piclistspam_OUTspam@spam@mitvma.mit.edu). The command is SET PICLIST REPRO

Good luck,

Sean

What happens sometimes, is that some relaying ISP's Send code or machine
goes haywire;  The list server's still sending out the e-mail, but, it's
getting dropped into an Internet Singularity before it gets to the
recipient.

I've seen this happen, what, 20+ times here?  Plus more other problems
<G>

Usually the traffic all shows up in one HUGE clump, some hours or days
later on, whenever that server gets fixed or re-booted.  It's annoying
to us admins, as we have to tell the difference between not being on the
list, being on the list but set to NoMail, or the above, or other
problems that can happen.  Sometimes, someone's ISP falls onto the RBL
(Realtime Black hole List - an anti-SPAM list, this happened to MY ISP
recently), or the PICList gets mistakenly ID'ed as a "SPAM" source by
someone's ISP due to all the traffic, and all PICList traffic is
filtered into the "circular binary file."  Rarely, you get a fast
response back, but the mail isn't getting through, despite the options
the list server's set to looking like it should - When THAT happens, I
suggest people unsub & re-subscribe, usually that fixes things.
Sometimes just setting to Digest & then regular mail a few seconds later
can fix it.  Broke state machine code somewhere there?  <G>

The usual test I suggest is to send a "Query PICList" message to the
"PICList List Server Command Input Port" at <RemoveMELISTSERVspam_OUTspamMITVMA.MIT.EDU>,
if you don't get a response back from that address in 5 minutes or less,
mail's dropping through an event horizon someplace between your ISP and
the list server, or filtering is happening, or someone's on the RBL & is
being filtered out.  Good time to e-mail us then <G>

Usually best to post to the "PICList List Server Admins" at
<PICList-RequestspamspamMITVMA.MIT.EDU> for such problems, though right now I
handle most of these usually, that could change some time <G>  (I may
get a vacation, some day;  Just wish more of my work was paid work,
right now.)

I'd just place a R-C in series/parallel: make it some 100-470ohm, and
10-100nF (don't know how fast those pushbuttons have to react).
I don't think optocouplers are needed.

IMO, even 50-100mt or more, even with unshielded cabling. If you need
more, 485 differential signaling should take you up to 250+ mt.
