'Suggestions Wanted to get started w/ PIC'

Hi All,
Simple question, What is the best way to get started w/ the PIC?
A Parallax Basic Stamp that can be programed in BASIC?
Or a PIC board that is programed in Assembly Language?
What I would like to do after learning the in's/out's is control
some stepper motors, servos, and do a little A/D.
My experience level tells me to get the Basic Stamp, but I could learn
the '84 also.
Send me some suggetions, I would like to start messing around with
a PIC soon...

I may be biased, but I would suggest getting started with a PIC
programmer and a PIC16C84. My company offers a package called the
PIC-n-GO that includes our PIC-1 programmer and a PIC16C84 w/data
sheet. It is available for only $45 in kit form or $65
assembled/tested.
You can have a look at our web page at http://www.itutech.com for
other PIC-related products.
Good Luck!
Chris
