Hi Guys,

I asked a little while back if anyone knew of a DOS based assembler for
the 12Cxxx series ?

Do I take it that such a beast does not exist ?

???  MPASM runs fine under dos.  It's in your mplab directory.

Any assembler which produces code for the 16C5x [not 16C55x] should work
without modification for the 12C5xx partx.  The only gotchas are:

[1] What Microchip calls "GPIO" is "PORTB".

[2] What Microchip calls "OSCAL" is "PORTA"

[3] There's already an instruction pre-burned into the parts at address
$1FF/$3FF, so your code should begin at address zero.

Other than those minor little details you should be fine.

MPASM by Microchip will run in DOS and supports all the current
PICmicros, including the 12C508 and 12C509.

So does Parallax's SPASM.  It's free on their website

I'm using MPASM.EXE version 1.5 from Microchip and it works for 12CXX

Cheers,

The Parallax assembler is DOS based and works with the 12Cxxx parts.
