If it's any help, I'm currently writing software for the 16C84 to receive and
decode IR from the current Sharp Electronics remote controls. So far I'm able
to reliably receive the signals and turn LED's on accordingly. To receive the
IR I'm using a small IR receiver IC from a TV, this has three connections,
positive supply, earth, and data out. If you are interested please feel free
to contact me.

Nigel.

Just a pointer to a good source on information on IR remote control
(I hope i can read my own writing )

hemul.nada.kth.se  /home/d89-bga/hp/files/remote/rem32bg

This contains code for the IR port of an hp48 but lots of info on ways
of coding THE IR signal for a lot of makers, well worth a check for those
interested in IR remote control.
