Use a 20 mhz parallel cut xtal - Digikey part number X439-ND $0.58 each.
You also need a couple of 18 or 20 pf capacitors.
By the way, if you haven't gone and bought the 16F84A yet, I suggest you
get the 16F628 instead - it is cheaper and has a lot more features, such as
builtin USART for serial I/O, analog comparator, more RAM ...
