    Sorry, we are talking about 2 different things here.  One was the
    first home video game (Pong) and the other was (perhaps) the first
    arcade video game.  Space war was a vector based game (I think), like
    Battlezone and Asteroids, and as such required hardware that just
    didn't exist for less than tens of thousands of dollars at the time.

    Consider this a vote for Pong as the first video game.

BZZZT..

The first commercial video game was "space war".
It didn't catch on.  It had a sculpted fibreglass shell
The game was two "spaceships" shooting at each
other, and the sun could have gravity set to normal,
none, and reverse.

    Definitely analog, with a little SSI digital thrown in to detect
    contact between the "ball" and "paddles".

Was the original PONG digital?  My brother built a version from plans
in popular electronics that was done mostly in analog...
