The ramsey programmer will program the 16f84 - I'd like to modify it to
work with the 16c74. Is it simply a matter of a socket adapter and proper
pin assignment, or is there more to it that that?

Spoke too soon I guess - seems the software that they provided with it doesn't
support the 16c74, just the 16f84, 16c84 and 16f83. I'm thinking this probably
isn't going to happen.

It is based on NOPPP, a PIC programmer designed by Michael Covington
http://www.CovingtonInnovations.com/noppp/index.html

He states on his page:
Does NOPPP support any PICs other than 16C84, 16F83, 16F84? The answer
is unfortunately no, because I'm quite
busy just helping people with the original NOPPP supporting only these
three chips. Supporting more chips would merely add to my user support
burden. Since my income from NOPPP is very limited, I can't make a
career of it. If you succeed in modifying NOPPP to program other PICs,
please let us know!
