I have used a Parallax programmer for quite a while, and lately it is
reporting programming errors with new 16F84's as well.

I tried my own programmer and they programmed ok. Maybe because its a
lot slower ??

Someone had mentioned the possibility of different timing requirements
(longer write pulse?)

Thanks for verifying this... so far I've only seen comments to check the
supply voltage, etc. but I've already eliminated other causes.

I assembled a different programmer, which has been working with all of my
PICs.
