'Parallax Programmer'

I recently purchased the Myke Predko book, "Programming and Customizing the
PIC Microcontroller". I also have the Parallax programmer which I have used
to program Basic Stamp I programs to PIC 16C58A's.
My question is:
Can I use the Parallax programmer to perform the experiments in the Predko
book using PIC 16F84's?
Any help is greatly appreciated,

Sure. You just have to manually enter the fuse and chip info on the
screen, as MPASM doesn't put those in the hex file :-(

I'm ignorant because I only used MPASM for one project (HCS decoder
rewrite) and had to enter the data manually. It wasn't in the source file
- just a set of comments on how to set things.
What does MPASM do differently?
Thanks.
