'PSX modification chip.'

Hi there.
I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the modification chip
for the playstation.
This chip (a 16C54 RC) defeats the copy and country protection present
on cd's. It for example allows you to play foreign cd's.
There are many dealers selling the chip for around 40 dollars.
They are basically ripping people off.
I borrowed a chip from a friend to see how it actually works.
Why spend a lot of money when you can make your own for just 5 dollars?!
Ok, that's what I want to do.
I doubt that there are many pic-list users with a playstation out there
but you might never know.
At this moment I'm trying to hack/debug/emulate this chip.
That's why you might have seen my messages about the 54/84 I/O pins.
I already figured out *alot* about this chip, what it's actually doing etc.
I'm capturing all the data between the psx and the chip and this way I hope
to emulate it.
But I need some help with it.
So, if you are also working on this then I would like to know.
And maybe there is someone with the actual rom code.
That would be really great!
It would same me quite some money and then I will have some more night rest. :-)
(But figuring it out yourself is much more fun!)
I also spoke to some person from Norway who claimed that he extracted
the code from the orignal chip. I wonder how he managed that.
So, if you see messages about the protection of the 16C54,
then you know why they are asking. ;-)
Any help is appreciated.
Dennis.
