1) If microchip wanted to release the picstart+ source file then they
would do it.

2) PIC17Cxx series can use program word space for fixed data storage,
you have probably dissassembled data and *not* an opcode at this
address.

Graham.

Steam engines may be out of fashion, but when you consider that an
internal combustion engine would require recovery of waste heat by
transfer just before top dead centre then fashion becomes rather
redundant, USE STRATIFIED HEAT EXCHANGERS ! and external combustion.

You heard it first from: Graham Daniel, managing director of Electronic
Product Enhancements.

What I did was import it then view it. Are you trying to say there won't be
any problem if I program my ONLY OTP 17C44 just to take advantage of the new
16FXX. My current firmware ver. is 1200.

cheers
Sam

I can't guarantee no problems, the picstart + firmware has improved over
versions for example.

It's safer to use a JW chip, check correct chip in picstart+ menu and
polarity of chip insertion, also cross all digits if superstitious
before downloading

Graham

I'm not really willing to spend on JW part. It's $??? here in Malaysia.
Besides I already have the OTP and I don't have any future projects that
need 17C series. I'd rather buy Jim's warp-13 in that case which is a lot
cheaper than buying the JW part alone. I just wish those guys from MChip can
confirm this. (Are you monitoring guys?)

And Jim you have not responded to my private e-mail. You're not interested
in 'bulk' businness are you?

cheers
sam

The PICSTART Plus firmware v2.01 is functional, tested, and shipping
with all new PICSTART Plus units.  We are not aware of any problems.

Hi Darrel!
Good to hear from you
Another good reason why I should NOT go for Amtel!
Despite the 'problem' I voiced ealier I'll download it right away! BTW I'm
not very familiar with 17C series, do you agree with what Graham said?

Thank you & cheers
Sam

I have a person report the same condition to me with my warp-17. There was
a "copyright message" hidden in the HEX file and this registered as a
illegal opcode.

Sam, I have checked though my mail boxes and I do not have any private email
from you on record, maybe it didn't get sent, arrive or maybe I trashed it
accidently??. Can you please resend, I am interested.

Jim
