Hi piclister,

sorry for this kind of request that should be annoing someone, but for me is
a relevant problem.
I'm receiving each day, with pleasure, 50 to 70 E-MAIL generate from this
list. I like to receive this E-MAIL, but I would like to divide
automatically in one folder called at example "PICLIST" all piclister EMAIL
from the "normal" EMAILs.

It is possible?? It is possible on OUTLOOK EXPRESS??
Can someone explain how to address all piclister EMAIL automatically on a
piclist folder??

Thanks

Leonardo

I have it working well on my home system. Setup a filter with
spam_OUTPICLISTTakeThisOuTspamMITVMA.MIT.EDU in the 'from:' field as your filter...

There is a menu choice that will allow you to set up rules to process
messages:

Main Menu Bar: Tools : (Message Rules -or- Inbox Assistant*)

* Depends on the version of Outlook Express you have

If the dialog box that appears is not obvious, the help file should describe
what you want to do.

Hope this helps...

David.

Hi,
It real EZ to setup the MS eMail programs, just follow these steps:

1) Open MS Mail(or outlook express, the steps are the same for both)
2) In the file menu go to Folders/New or add, then select an appropriate
name for the folder to store the pic mail.
3) Go to the Tools menu \ inbox assistant, a new dialog box will open.
4) Select the add button, a dialog box will appear that has places to put
different parameters.
5) in the "TO:" line put in "PICLISTspamspam_OUTMITVMA.MIT.EDU" with out the quotes.
6) further down you will see a line saying "Move To", it is here you select
where to put mail with the above listed address. Namely the folder you
created in step 2
7) now click ok, you will now have the option of having outlookexpress go
thru a mailbox and sift out all the mail going to the
@spam@PICLISTKILLspamspamMITVMA.MIT.EDU, you should select inbox, providing this is where
your mail goes.

Hope this works for you

Oliver

'[OT] Piclist & Yahoo e-mail service'
2005\06\25@132430 by jrem

Folks:

I use Yahoo's email service to subscribe to the piclist because it's
easy to manage and I'm not filling up my regular email
(me_at_jrem_dot_com).  But one thing I notice is I don't seem to be
getting *every* piclist message, I get most of them, but sometimes I
see threads appear as all RE's, and never see the original message,
which leads me to believe I'm not getting 100% of the emails.

It's not totally annoying, because like most of you I scan through
threads and pick out the information I'm interested in (while often
reading other bits of threads depending on the color of the poster).
But I'm thinking something ain't right and am wondering if others have
similar experiences, or if I should be doing something different to
manage my piclist experience.

Thanks for any and all replies . . .     John.

I suggest you gmail. Every threat has only one email which may be (or
not) opened as a folder content. The question is the first one and
then the answers are coming sorted by time. 2.5G memory.

I've noticed this as well, but I'm using my own domain.  In a few cases, it
turns out to be that someone changed the subject and left the "RE:".  But I
also noticed missing emails.  Not sure what I could do about it though.

Is yahoo filtering spam that may discard some of these or put it in some
special spam folder?

Cheers,
-Neil.

I am also missing a few.
I don't go through anything special and I don't use a spam filter.
I DO have a subject filter that routes a few of the more obvious words to
the deletes file.

I tell clients that if they don't receive an acknowledgement from me to
assume I did not get their email.

You could try http://gmane.org/ (a news gateway for various mailing lists).
I'm using gmane.org through a newsreader and I didn't notice a single
missing message so far.

Or you could try gmail.

While it is beta, many people seem to use it without problems. If you mean
with "window" the "window of opportunity" :) -- I just sent you an
invitation, just in case.

OTOH, I'm surprised that not more people use the news gateway. IMO there
are two ways to read a mailing list: on the spot, emails popping in all the
time, and you read and answer them in real time -- a normal email account
is good for this. Or you read it in batches, accessing them whenever you
have a few minutes free. A separate list email account works fine with this
second option, but IMO a news interface works even better.

No. The gateway I'm talking about is http://gmane.org. It translates
several mailing lists into newsgroups. Among them is the piclist. This
allows me (and you :) to access the piclist with a news reader. I find this
very convenient. News readers usually have features for tracking threads
that email programs don't have.

hmm, thanks, I will look into that.  I have since opened up a gmail
address (thanks to all who invited me!) and really like the web
interface, much nicer than yahoo, all the threads are kept on a link.
