Analog Devices makes a development board with 2 of their ADXL ics
on it.

We have manufactered temprature indicating equipment for years, mostly
for the iron and steel industry along with importing a line of Japanese
controllers. Everything now has micros in it to compensate for the non
linearity of T/Cs. Junction compenstation is usally done 1 of 2 ways. A
device that varies with temp that is fed into the amplifier circuitry or
a solid state temprature indicator at the junction block which the micro
reads and fiqures in. For
plug in probes we use the appropiate jack/plug/wire. The final terminal
block on the PCBd is a standard type.

Two accelerometers, two _little_ boards (surface mount except the
ADXL05), application notes.  About $60 from Allied or Newark.

You get to mount the surface mount yourself... depending on scaling
and banwidth you require.  Don't bother with the 0 level reistor
if you want an accurate 0g level - you _will_ need external trimpots.
