HI-TECH Software is delighted to announce that the popular 16C84,
16F84 and 16F84A Microchip PIC devices are now supported by a
high-quality, completely free, C compiler.

PICC-Lite is essentially the same as our full-featured, industrial
grade PICC compiler, but supports only the 16x84 devices. We have
made this tool available for educational, hobby and commercial use
in order to return to the PIC user community some of the value
that we have gained from other's contributions over the last
few years.

These particular devices are popular with non-commercial
users due to the EEPROM/Flash program memory.

Grab it, use it, and enjoy it. The compiler can be
downloaded from our web site (about 1MB) along with a manual
(also about 1MB).

Happy PICCing!

Clyde,

On behalf of myself and my students, I want to thank you for
your very generous offer of free copies of your PICC-Lite
C compiler for the PIC 16x84 series.

Thank you for the high quality of your products, and for
your generosity in making this PICC-Lite C compiler available
to the PIC community at large. I hope that others will
take note of your example.

Hi,
I do not want to diminish the value of HI-TECH's announcement. However,
for the sake of the truth seems to be mentioned, that Knudsen Data offers
already for a long time a free version of her compiler up to 1 kB, and it
able to handle not only 16x84, but all 14- and 12-bit (!!!) PICs.
Especially latter is a remarkable gift!

Regards,
Imre

How can I integrate PICC-Lite with MPLAB?

Indeed.  I've been using it for a few weeks now, and love it.  If I ever
produce anything that I can sell, I'll buy the full version!  8-)

Thanks Fernando, I will distribute the CC5X compiler also to my students and let
them choose :-)

Free support of 12 bit series is really great.

Under Project/Install Language Tool select the HI-TECH language suite,
and set all three of PIC-C Compiler, Assembler and Linker to the path
to PICL.EXE, e.g. c:\picclite\bin\picl.exe

That's it. Now in your project you can select HI-TECH as the Language
Tool Suite.
