Is there a PIC16C5X DOS or Windoze simulator
(not ICE) available to single step etc.  through an
assembly program as a code check?

Thanks,

Check UMPS at  http://www.vmdesign.com, it is the fastest
PC simulator available today for 16C5x, include also
assembler/disassembler, Microchip assembler connection,
and complex components simulator: LCD panel, I2C EEPROM,
serial EEPROM, serial ADC/DAC ...

Regards,
       Philippe.

    Hello Win,
Try using the Microchip's MPLAB for Windows v.3.40. PIC16c5Xs are
Microchip's baseline products (w/ 14-bit instruction width) which are
very much supported by MPLAB. This tool includes PIC16Cxx/PIC17cxx
MPLAB editor, simulator, emulator support functions, & MPASM universal
PIC16/17 microcontroller assembler. Single step debugging is also
    supported.
Try visiting our website at http://www.microchip.com

    Regards,
    Francis

Thanks Philippe,

I'll check with the folks at Wirtz -- I was interested
to see that it supports the 68HC705C8 and small
Intel CPUs too.

Win

MPLAB has an excellent simulation which I use all the time.  It can be run,
single stepped, or run slowly so that you can just about follow the changes
in register and port values.  If there are too many registers changing at
once you might miss some.  I overcome that by inserting a break just before
the busy section and using single step.

Hi,

yes there is one (very good I think) for DOS. Look at http://www.parallaxinc.com,
and look for psim.exe or similar one. Unfortunately, the product is not
developed so forth, but is is handy, you can step back (!) during
debugging, and it is free.

I hope this helps:
Imre
