Hi
I am looking for some (5 - 10) PIC16F876-04 or -20/SP in DIL-Package.
All distributor I know are sold out.
Hardware is ready (without any microprocessor) and I have to start
programming within a few days so I can deliver 5 prototypes until mid
november.
Any help ?
Please send me an email privatly.

Digikey is claiming to be getting more in December. I'd like
to know what the hold up is on these Flash parts. It's
been over a year since MicroChip started telling us about these
parts!

December is what I'm being told for more of them in ANY pinout from other
sources, so it sounds reasonable.

Thanks to all of you, but it does not help me. Probably I have to switch to
the 877.

I wonder if you could get away with a 16C7X-JW for the prototypes, then
shift to the flash parts when available.

The story I heard was that there is only one testing station capable of
testing the chips as they come off the line. There is another one being
manufactured, but apparently these testing stations are very big ticket
limited production type devices and it takes a few months to have one
built. All of the production coming out of the other tester is reserved
for the big dogs with high volume current production projects with these
micros. I bought 25 of the 876's from digi-key when they had them and I am
using them all for first articles and pre-production samples. I can only
hope that by mid-january they will be available in volume. I may get bit,
I may not....

Erik,
Not only that, but the backlog for this equipment is enormous and growing.

The pcb is already finished and I have some of them on my bench.
I should start programming now. A redesign of the pcb wiill delay me for 2 weeks
.
Does this prototype board include an 876 ?

I'm doing exactly that. The only feature not implemented is use of the
internal EE, and codespace checksum on powerup to determine validity.
