'PIC16C77 programming'

1)  I have the PICSTART-16C programmer (firmware V1.30)
but unfortunately it is not recognised by MPLAB (v3.22.02)
when I go to the setup options.

Does anyone know how to get it to be recognised and then how
to program a PIC16C77?

2)  I am changing from PIC 74 to 77 due to space requirements.  Is
there anything that I ought to look out for?

Thanks

BRGH = 1 WORKS!

You need to store the extra context information in your interrupt entry
routine.

Other than that, it's just a fat '74.

I'm using a 16C74 (no A) with the CCS compiler using RS-232 at 19,200
with BRGH=1. It seems to work although I have read the errata that
indicates it might not. Clock speed is 4mhz.

We also got a 74A to perform in prototypes at 19.2 if we ignored sporatic
errors. However, I would gently caution against producing volumes of product
that is outside of specifications. (But then again you knew that!).
