Can anyone tell me what the situation is with 12C508 date code 9813 -
9830?
I've heard talk that Microchip screwed up their process, which messed up
the factory calibration, so that the value stored in the chip was wrong.

I can't find any info on Microchip's website, and no email reply yet.

I saw some discussion to do with Playstation Modchips and the date codes,
but I wasn't interested in them, so I deleted them at the time.

TIA

    Paul,

The UK microchip FAE has verbally stated that the chip meets the
revised data sheet graphs, and that these graphs have changed since

the last data sheet because of this - I pointed out that the rev C
DS
against the Rev B DS showed no changes, so he was going to get me
    actual values.

This was last Tuesday - He hasn't come back to me, despite a phone
call a day to him, (he's always in a meeting and will get back to
me!)

On another subject - Those on the PICList who remember me moaning
about requesting the Microchip CDROM from their website and not
getting it - I finally got the June '98 CDROM last week!!!

Paul,

I posted a similar question a couple of weeks ago, and was directed
to http://www.dontronics.com .

If you follow the links to the REI website and download the code
which they've been "experimenting" with to correct the problem, you'll
see that they simply add 0x10 to the factory-programmed OSCCAL value
when programming the chips in the date range you mention.

I doubt that this is a "Microchip-approved" approach to the problem,
but it seems to work well enough for REI. (I haven't yet tried it
myself, though I expect to soon).

FYI,
Mark
