I have been developing an interrupt based library that has capibility
for many types of IO.  Currently I have working RS232, LCD, X-10,
RS485/RS422, AD (I am using a '71), and SONY IR.

Let me know if you want try and build your own.  You will need a
RS232 driver (MAXIM), a Radio Shack IR cube, a 40KHz oscillator,
a PIC16C71, and a crystal.

If it really is that simple, I would be willing to put together a board.
What would you recommend for a programmer?  Would an ne555 be adequate for
the oscillator or should that be crystal controlled?

>What would you recommend for a programmer?

I use the PICSTART.  Costs $200.  Works well.

>Would an ne555 be adequate for

Yes, that is the one I use.

I will send you the source code separately.

I would be interested in the source code also.
If you could put it on the list, or send it to me also,
I would really appreciate it.

Thanks...  Ron
