Hi, i'm looking for a real time in circuit emulator and would prefer not to
blow $800 on the Microchip or RF Solutions products. I need an ICE for the
PIC12C5xx and PIC12CE5xx series ASAP and eventually to the PIC16C505 and
the rest of the PIC16C series. Can anybody help?

I think you'll need to spend that kind of money or prepare to be sorely
disappointed. Add up the cost of parts and you'll see why.

I have a Tech-Tools Clearview Mathias and can recommend it.

Hi Bob, i'm developing a range of products using mainly PIC12C's and i
would rather spend the minimum on an ICE now, i'll be able to afford the
top of the line ICE later when i see money coming in <BG>

I've come across some really cheap ICE's for the PIC12C50x going for under
60 british pounds. Can hardly get a good reply from them so i'd expect the
same for tech support service :(

What i wanted to know is if anybody has come across a *really* cost
effective ICE that works and what were their experiences with it.

The only really effective low cost ICE I've ever seen is for the Scenix SX
PIC clones (see http://www.scenix.com) since the SX chips have the ICE support
built in, the ICE sees what the chip sees and the ICE is just an interface
between the chip and the PC.

Disclaimer: I am not a Scenix sales rep! <GRIN> I just love the SX chips.
