Several have sent pre-congradulations and wished my wife and I luck in
our labor, so I thought you would like a status report:

Grant Adam Davis was born at 1:02 pm EST (+5 GMT) on Tuesday, March 21.
He weighed in at 6 pounds, 13 ounces (3.09 kg), and 20.5 inches (521
mm).  Both mother and baby (and father) are doing well after laboring
for 35(!) hours (She was able to sleep about 2-3 hours of that time, I
got about 4 hours during that time).  We came home from the hospital
today, and I'll be enjoying paternity leave until next Wednesday.  I
salute all you who have gone through labor, either as the laborer or the
partner, I never knew how exhausting it would be, and I've a new respect
for women.  I suspect my respect for fathers will grow as time goes
by...  (You're out of luck until then ;-)

At any rate, I may have some time during the next few days to relax and
do some PIC stuff - if so, you'll hear about it.

Glad to hear the baby et all are well. Is that G. Adam Davis now? <GRIN>
Better than M.A.D.  <VBG>

Re: Fatherhood: Wait until you start missing A) Sex, B) Your wife, C) Free
time, D) Your wife being in a good mood, E) Clothes that haven't been spit
up on, F) Everything smelling clean instead of that baby smell... G) (later)
Money, and so on. I have developed a healthily respect for men who stay with
their wife and child (rather than running off as so many do) and especially
those that really work at being a good father. Its tough. I just have to
stop on a regular basis (as something bad happens on a regular basis) and
remind myself of the good parts... And there are a lot. Of course, I have 5
(4 at home now) so its a bit much at times.

Anyway, best wishes.

Heh.  Reminds me of one of the best cartoons a saw during early parenthood.
Our regular character is the father of two, and is sharing the elevator with
another guy.  The other guy is in sad shape.  Clothes wrinkled and dirty,
eyes bloodshot, etc.  But he's smiling and whistling.  "Is your new kid a
boy or a girl?" says our hero.  "A girl.  How did you know we just had a
baby!?"  "No one but a new parent can look that bad and feel that good at
the same time..."

With my first, it was good that the doctor was saying "breathe" to my wife or
_I_ would have passed out!

Most recent one (we have 7) it was no problem - I was even able to tell her to
breathe this time <G>

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Andy
