Hi,
OK, so I'm (quite) new to PICs and assembler programming. I have a
(hopefully) simple question: is there (and if yes, where) some short,
effective code on how to tell the PIC to perform an integer multiply
(non-multiples of two, that is, and without going down to AND's and OR's on
single-bit level).

Bye

I believe you will find the code for integer multiply already written in the
Microchip Embedded Controller Handbook.  It can be downloaded directly
from the Microchip bulletin board.  You don't even have to type it in.
Call Microchip directly to get directions for reaching their bulletin board.

Markus,

Multiplcation is handled in some application notes.  See if you can get
them from Microchip or try an address like:

 ftp.sics.se

in some dir like /pub/mchipsoft/mchipsoft

best of luck

Markus,

I wrote my own integer multiply bit by bit.  It sure takes a few lines of code
to do a*b.  Most of the basic math functions are written and available, but
I had a problem with some of the code.  As a result, I did my own.  Oh yeah,
I also needed to do a 3-byte times a 2-byte integer, and I couldn't find
anything already written.

Let me know if I can help.

Yours,

Derrick Early
