'Morse decoder required'
Hello piclist people
Does anyone have the code for a Morse
decoder. It doesn't have to be all singing and dancing just the basics. I
want to see how it is done, how does it determine what speed it is being
sent at etc.
I have been working on my own algorithim to do this for a while now, but
other obligations prevent me from putting in all the time on it that I want
to. But as soon as I get it together, I'll send you a copy.

Overpriced pre-blown micro and an LCD display.
Given these are the most expensive bits, why not
just get a tone decoder (e.g. XR2206, or NE567)
and use your PC to watch the demodulated
signal and decode it? It is not a huge signalling rate,
so software decoding should not be a high-stress app.
On top of that you can record traffic to disk.
If you still want your PIC to do the decoding,
you could get it to transmit the ASCII to the PC.
There are some PD programs for transmitting
receiving morse. One takes keyboard chars and
bleeps on the speaker to transmit, and listens
to a bit on the serial port handshake line

I not shure, but Jameco has what you want!
In reply to my request for a morse code decoder I came accross a cryptic
message about Jameco, can anyone elaborate on this.
They list a Morse decoder kit w/ 16X1 lcd display kit for $70 US.
P.72 catalog #973.
I wrote an ASCII to Morse convertor for an old 8-bit palmtop a
few years ago - For some reason did'nt occur to me to try it the
other way - Sounds a bit more challenging. Think I'll take a shot
Have'nt heard from Maplins yet - Suspect you buried them... :)
