If you not answered the survey screen, please do so.

It is a 30 seconds 5 questions (multiple choice) survey to understand
what kind of microcontroller you deal with (PIC, 8051, other), your PC
type (Pentium or other), and platform used (windows, unix, etc..

The survey has a whole automatic result screen, just clicking the "Click
for Actual Results" button.

Why do I not see any option to select the MC68HC11 MCU ????

Perhaps because it is not the best, slow memory hungry and uses power loke
it is going out of fashon, has poor development tools and come from a
supplier that wont speak to you unless your first words are 1 million
pieces please!

Dennis:
If you base your designs on what is in "fashon", maybe you should
be designing women's clothes.  There are many of us that are using
the MC68HC11 and are happy with the results.

Yes.... I grew to hate the 68HC11. It coded up not too bad, the
Pseudo ICE would work sometimes BUT getting the wretched Motorola
programmer to burn in the DATA was a total lottery. We even bought a
different programmer... no difference.  We never got to the bottom of
the problem and MOTOROLA didn't help.

Since changing to the PIC.. development hassles have been limited to
the clown behind the keyboard.
.... and a few Oscillator start up problems.

Oooops... my fault, as well the 68C705 and others... :]
I will try to correct it tonight yet.

We who are Jacks of all Trades and Masters of none generally have to do
as we are told. I personally have to work with the PIC, 68HC11,
68HC05/08 and Zilog chips. I'm waiting for the day that some one asks
for development support for the ST6 series or even 8051 devices, but
that can wait. I have enough work having to deal with three types let
alone more...

Is it great stuff being stuck in a time warp shooting back to the sixties?
If it had not been for GM the HClemon would not have got off the ground
(6802 with a timer counter module).

I don't base my designs on what is in "Fashon" at all, infact I think that
the HC05 is a far better beast!. I think that the HClemon is neither your
knee nore your elbow it is NOT an effective processor nore it is not an
effective controller (The 8051 is better). Yes it does work, but why row
accross the Atlantic when you can fly?

I never said that the HClemon shouldn't be used, I just think that it is a
bit old hat and nothing including compilers has kept pace.

You can design far better systems that use far less power and have a faster
time to market with other newer processors/controllers, and you don't have
to say "Please sir I want 1 million please".

I will not pay hommage to those Valiam takers using this device, great if
you get results, but hey you can get that with any processor!

Speaking of which, for the beginners out there...Motorola has an EXCELLENT
book (lit. # M68HC05TB/D) titled "HC05 Understanding Small Microcontrollers"
The book itself focuses on MCU's and how they work, it helped me IMMENSELY! I
hope it's not bad that I'm advertising this book..but it's awesome.
