I have a PICstart plus programmer and running MPLAB for Windows/16 3.99.21,
After upgrading to WIN98 i now have big problems. MPLAB seems to "hang"
randomly (quite aften), and following message appear:
Please verify serial and power
connections and reset the programmer (0020,01,00,00)
There are nothing wrong with the connections, and resetting doesnt help much.
On my old 386 with win3.11 everything work great.
Anybody had similar problems, or know what could be the problem ????
I have firmware 1.20.00 on my PICstart plus programmer, how do I upgrade
the firmware ???
The same thing happens if you uses WINNT which seems the
MPLAB doesn't support WIN98 and WINNT.

I can't help you with your problem but post a message to Microchip's web
board. MC's engineers seems to hang out there.

I was having similar problems using recent versions of MPLAB with Windows
3.1, but MPLAB v3.99.23 seemed to correct the problem. To upgrade your
firmware, look in the readme files that are installed with MPLAB. You can
buy windowed (17C44 I think) and program new firmware into it, then swap
with old chip. Microchip might even be dishing out firmware upgrades,
without all the hassle.
