Yes... at least I hope so! (I'm hoping to design an '84 based MIDI
part).
If you can cope with bit-banging you have got 32 instructions per
bit - so doing anything else at the same time is a bit difficult!

As long as you don't send and receive at the same time.
I have some bit banging code that does 38400 on a 10 Mhz PIC. Cannot
do anything while sending or receiveing though,
