Yoshi,
Someone sent me these sites with a LOT of good information on laser diofes, take
a look.
Useful information on laser diodes can be found at:
http://www.repairfaq.org/sam/laserdio.htm
A lot of different driver circuits with explanations:
http://www.repairfaq.org/sam/laserdps.htm
cheers,
Phil

Small nukes will do fine. Maybe a chemical laser, but you have to wear
armor when using it ;) Drive carefully.

The bright yellow foglist often sold for 4-wheel-drive vehicles do a
wonderful job of screwing up the light-based "radar" used by police.

What is a foglist ? Unless it's something that makes really bright fast
pulses in the IR domain it's useless.

Foglights, I think he meant; If you had 'em sprung so they bounced up
& down a little (Rubber mounted, not directly bolted), maybe that'd do
it, maybe not - I don't know <G> I am curious, though!
One company does sell an IR diode array, that could be a nice PIC
project <G>
How fast is fast? How bright is bright? <G>

It's a bit like a PicList, but some of the questions are even less
clear.....

My fingers didn't obey my mind.
Fog lights. They are very common in the USA, especially in certain
"cowboy" mentality areas.

Fast: depends on modulation system in the transmitter, should be faster
than 1 msec in any case. If they use a semiconductor IR laser, you lose.
Bright: About as bright as your average laser pointer's spot on the wall,
but in IR. So, very roughly, about 1 mW/25mm^2. I can quite see some nut
pasting his car full of IR leds just to check it out. If any1 on this list
does it, send me an email ;) I can see a big future in fiber woven mats
with SMT IR leds in the fabric ;) Could put some visible ones in too, to
show the trooper's it's just a beer ad. <g>

Peter
