Hi All,

Firstly I would like to thank you all for help about MIZU's LCD display. You were right - the extra 2 pins are for future use, so now I'm happy.

Now I want to ask if someone have experience with IrDA devices and if it is possible to implement an IrDA device with PIC. I have all the standards downloaded form IrDA's home page, but I don't have nessesary experience with PICs to estimate that task.

yes it is possible to do IrDA. sometimes it's helpfull to have a working
device to test our programming. i was impressed with the specs for the
MAX3100 it supports IrDA and 9th bit.

Evgeni, you might want to take a look at the Maxim MAX3100 UART which,
in addition to UART fuctions, supports the IrDA spec at 115.2K. It uses
an SPI/Microwire compatible interface and the TxD and RTS outputs will
sink 25ma for use with opto-isolators. It comes in a 14 pin DIP or a 16
pin QSOP package. I have a couple of 115.K IrDA modules from HP that I
want to interface to the MAX3100 and the 16F84.
