'I2C to two RS232'

Hi

I'm looking for and I2C chip which has two RS232 ports.  That is my PIC will
connect to the chip via I2C and have control over two RS232.  Failing that I2C
to 1 RS232 port and just have two on the circuit board.  If anyone knows of
such a component, where can I get specs from, cost etc.

Thanx

I'm sure you can do this on a PIC.

Why do you need I2C? Just implement RS232 on the PIC (or on another PIC
if needed, is even cheaper than i2c parts). For PIC RS232 code look at
Microchip App Note 510 (or eg. http://www.myke.com for simpler code)

Hot off the presses...ok, out of my mailbox from Maxim.  MAX3100 QSOP-16
package UART with a SPI interface.  Maybe that might work for you?

A pair of max3100s might do it for you.

Have prototyped an RS485 to RS232 addressable node interface/converter
using the MAX3100 (including PIC16F84 + MAX232 + LTC485). The MAX3100 is
a dream to use in 9 bit networks, just what the doctor ordered for this
job...

Project programming completed in 3 days using PICBasic Pro...

This is in fact a question about the MAX3100/3130 and 3131 --> The IRDA
PART --> has somebody some source example code ?? It's very important for me
! Also, has anyone the hardware scheme to connect the MAX3131 or MAX3130 (or
MAX3100) to a PIC ??
