The I2C hardware in 16C65A is implemented only for slave mode. You must
use software emulation if you want to operate it in master mode. This is
the reason why the sample programs have only emulation mode.

Sunthiti,
Thanks for the clairfication on the 16C65A I2C port.  The documentation
does not seem to be clear on that, perhaps I need to read it again.

important to know: which mode ? Master or slave ? I've implemented the code
for slavemode on a 16C72 and it works really fine.

Have a look at:

http://www.wasp.co.za/~tjaart/electronicsearch.html

There are a lot of usefull Links, especially to Philips, the inventor of I2C.

Graeme,

I'm responding both to your email and to piclist.  This is because I
responded to piclist a number of times and never saw my responses in the list,
(should I have?).

The I2C routines you saw are probably the ones in MicroChip's AN515.  I
saw these and also ones at http://www.phanderson.com when trying to
interface with a 24C65 8K EEPROM.  I decided to write my own and they actually
worked.  If you are doing the PIC as a single master you might want to look
them over.  You can find them at http://www.iversoft.com/piclist/code.html
in the file TLOGGER.ZIP.

No - to receive your own messages you must send the command
 SET PICLIST REPRO
(in the body) to

'I2C Routines'
1999\04\14@091850 by Norm

Greetings,

I am presently attempting to interface the PIC17C75X to a 24LC01B EEPROM
using the I2C port (SDA and SCL lines).  I have not been able to find any
assembly language examples or appnotes detailing this at the Microchip site.
Does anybody out there have any code they would like to share?  Any help
would be appreciated.

Regards,
Norm Siegel

Hi
Can anyone help me out with writing to and reading from a serial EEPROM using the I2C routines for the f876 in master mode. I seem to be getting no joy in my efforts (and I have no hair left to pull out!). Any suggestions gratefully received.
Andy
